Tropical Storm Fay - Live Cam (Gannett)

Aug19

This morning, Gannett’s “network” of news and information sites in Florida are using Mogulus solutions to additionally share live video as Tropical Storm Fay makes her way inland. News-press.com, in Fort Myers, has a player on its home page, while WTSP www.tampabays10.com has a link to the same player on its home front. Live wind-rain video from multiple cams, plus occasional live interruptions from local Emergency Operation Centers (EOC’s). Hurricane and Tropical Storm coverage are considered “mission critical” assignments for Gannett as they are privileged to serve generally huge audiences seeking potentially life and property saving information during these mass interest events.

GroundReport Streams Aspen Institute Forum on Communications and Society

Aug15

How can media help democracy?
The question guided last weekend’s Aspen Institute Forum on Communications and Society (http://aspeninstitute.org/focas), broadcast live exclusively via the Mogulus platform. The event featured thought leaders like former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, former FCC Chairman Reed Hundt, Google VP Marissa Mayer, Akamai CEO Paul Sagan and craigslist founder Craig Newmark.
For four days, the dignitaries met in the lush mountains of Aspen, Colorado, to debate the merits of new media and how to spark civic and global engagement. Citizen journalism outlet GroundReport.com produced the live webcast for the second year in a row, and joined the discussion to speak about participatory media, emerging video technology and designing a global news platform.

We are looking forward to the New Media Expo - August 14 - 16, 2008 in the Las Vegas Convention Center. The New Media Expo is a hands-on, exciting, “how-to” event with practical conference sessions about how to produce high-quality online audio and video content, grow a loyal audience, and even make a few bucks with your content in creative ways. Mogulus will have the booth 318, which is very close to the stage in the exhibit hall. Beside that we teamed up with Qik and a Mogulus player (New Media Expo - Channel) will be on 3 screens spread over the exhibit floor. The channel will have feeds from various Qik’ers who will give you snapshots from the conference.

Looking forward to see you at our booth 318 and answer all your Mogulus related questions.

About today’s investment announcement

On behalf of Mogulus I would like to thank all our staff, investors, partners and producers who have put their trust in the Mogulus product and vision from the beginning. I would also like to of course thank the Gannett teams (Corporate and in the field) who made this investment partnership possible.

Over the past 7 months, we have been working on choosing the right partner for this round of fundraising. We wanted a partner who understood the space well, had the necessary appetite and pockets to get Mogulus to the next stage and who could add strategic value – based on these objectives Gannett is the perfect partner for Mogulus.

The strategic synergies are incredible as all of their newspapers and television stations have a need to be instant and live on the web.

The partnership started when some Gannett newspapers like the Argus Leader and Indianapolis Star discovered the Mogulus service and used it to broadcast special events such as the Argus Leader’s private editorial meetings with Obama and Hillary – (http://www.mogulus.com/blog/?p=395).

But this is only the beginning. Gannett is not just the publisher of USA Today - they own over 90 daily newspapers, nearly 1,000 weekly newspapers, 23 television stations. (See the full list at Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Gannett_Company_assets)

We are very excited to work with their newspaper and television properties to deeply deploy the Mogulus platform with their content and brands.

Through this deal, Mogulus remains a fully independent company and service – Gannett is a minority, non-controlling investor, and also a Mogulus Pro customer. As part of the Mogulus Pro rollout, we are continuing to grow our relationship with other media companies who sometimes compete with Gannett.

The new investment also gives us the resources to accelerate our product development and bring you a high quality Mogulus Pro faster. We will also grow the Mogulus team in the area of product sales, advertising sales and product development.

Thanks again for all of your support – now let’s grow and accelerate to secure our position as the leading LIVE video broadcasting platform.
